Foothills Land Conservancy, the Maryville-based nonprofit works to preserve open space, primarily by acquiring land that can be donated to state and federal agencies and by facilitating conservation easements, in which property owners place permanent restrictions on the use of their land — no matter who buys it in the future — and often receive tax benefits in return.
